Krittika Nakshatra is the first Nakshatra ruled by the Sun. Krittika’s constellation was the well-known Pleiades or The Seven Sisters (or The Seven Wives). Being one of the brightest constellation, Krittika Nakshatra was ruled by the Fire God, Agni.

By judging the rulers, we should have known how fiery this nakshatra was. It is also located in between Aries and Taurus zodiac sign. The first quarter of Krittika was in the last 3 degrees 20” of Aries, and the rest 3 (three) quarters of Krittika Nakshatra was in the first 10 degrees of Taurus. We will know why it was in between such a fiery and earthy sign.

Krittika Nakshatra’s symbol was a knife or a sharp object and this also has something to do with the meaning of Krittika itself. Krittika means “The one who cuts” or “The Cutter”. Cutting doesn’t always mean it was used to hurt someone, but the cutting in here can also mean that Krittika Nakshatra helps us to cut through the layers of life that might enable us to achieve something or finish something.

Moon, the planet that symbolize our emotions, mother, and nurturance, was exalted in Krittika. The reason behind this was because in the mythology, Krittika Nakshatra relates to the war general who’s a son of Lord Shiva, Kartikeyya. Lord Shiva created Kartikeyya to fight the demons because The Gods has lost all of their territories to the demons. But before he reached maturity age, Kartikeyya was sent into hiding to the Seven Wives (The Krittikas/Pleiades) of the Seven Sages who looks after the Galaxy. Therefore, Kartikeyya was nurtured and taken care of by the Seven Wives. The nurturing part is what makes Krittika able to be such a caring Nakshatra and that’s why Moon was exalted in Krittika. The war with the demons itself was a form of Self-defense and protecting its kind which then made Krittika became such a protective Nakshatra, especially towards their loved ones.

But If we put Rahu in here, Rahu can use the fiery nature and sharp nature of Krittika to a good and bad ways, depends on our conscience and Jupiter’s dignity. Rahu in Krittika can make someone became determined to reach some goals for their life, but it can also make them became greedy. This is why being grateful or always expressing gratitude became such an important thing during Rahu’s transit to Krittika.

Krittika is such an ambitious Nakshatra, so when we put Rahu, who actually a significator of what we haven’t experience in this life, it can make us either very ambitious or struggle to be ambitious. But one thing for sure, Rahu is a shadow planet with no body that can never be satisfied.

When Rahu is in Krittika in the Taurus part, transit wise (not in the birthchart), people can be very ambitious to gain material wealth. How to gain these things depends on their birthchart and the dignity of Jupiter in their birthchart because if Jupiter is good, they won’t do the illegal things to achieve this but Rahu can make them have this uncontrollable desire for material wealth or luxury things in life. But if the dignity of their natal Jupiter is bad, they can do anything, including cheating people’s money to attain their desire.

We actually have a choice to make Rahu behave in such a bad way or in such a good way. Now that we know what Rahu is capable of doing in Krittika, do we want to let it overpower us and make us do bad deeds or do we want to control it and make it work in our favor as in making us ambitious in a healthy way? Which one do you want to choose?

Meanwhile in Aries, Rahu became a conqueror. It wants to conquer things. The reason behind this was because Aries was Mars-ruled sign. The Aries part was the part where Rahu can make someone became a really angry person with uncontrollable anger once they are angry. So we have to really be careful with our anger once Rahu enter Aries.

The violence and fire can really get crazy when Rahu starts to enter Aries because this is a triple fire Rahu. Rahu always imitates the sign ruler or Nakshatra ruler of where it is transitting. So Rahu in the Aries part of Krittika imitates Sun, in a Sun ruled Nakshatra, and in a Mars ruled sign. Rahu in Aries can become much more ambitious than the Taurus part, but the ambitiousness of Rahu in Aries was a self-interest one.

Why Self-interest? Because Aries is the natural 1st house of the zodiac. It represents our head, our body, and our ego too. Planets in the 1st house of our birthchart or aspecting the 1st house determine how our ego will play out. While Rahu in Taurus could have those desire for the well being of the family because the Taurus part of Krittika also corresponds to a caring and nurturing side of a mother too. This is where Moon is exalted right? But the Aries part is where Sun dominates. In fact, Aries was all about Sun, Ashwini is where the Sun got exalted, Bharani is Sun’s Son, and Krittika is Sun’s Nakshatra.

So Rahu in Krittika part of Aries will have the possibilities to be very egotistical, especially when it comes to power or their self-interest. We might see some political leaders became very self-centered during this Rahu in Krittika transit, especially in the Aries part.

Other than greed, Rahu in Krittika can make us became unrealistic. The reason behind this was because Rahu represent maya or illusion and Krittika is such a realistic and goal-oriented Nakshatra, but if Rahu is here, we can get trapped with our illusion which then made us became unrealistic towards the things we wanted to achieve.

Another reason why Rahu in Krittika can make us became egotistical was because this is the Nakshatra ruled by the Sun. Sun always wants to shine. It wants to be prioritized because Sun is the King. So we will be prone to be so full of ourselves and want to always be prioritized by other people or have our needs fulfilled by other people or being very demanding without acknowledging or being aware of the situation.

Well, it depends on the original birthchart and our age too, especially if Rahu or Saturn has reach their maturity age. In the Taurus part, this plays out in a family level as in we want to be prioritized by our family which is actually a normal thing, but we have to be aware of the situations our family was in too.

In the Aries part, this can plays out in a different way, either we require ourself to be priorotized by our own self, or we require other people to prioritize ourself which can make us kinda became self-centered in people’s eyes. Being humble and being self-aware of this possibilities became such an important thing to do so we can make Rahu work in a positive way. Remember that we always have a choice to control Rahu or be controlled by Rahu.

We can use this moment to create or have a new ambition in life, career, or even love life and even better, we can use this moment to set intention to clear our pastkarma and maybe let go of our past or the things we wanted to let go because Krittika Nakshatra has the Shakti to burn or purify or severe ties. We can use this moment to have a new life or new ambition because Krittika is one of those Nakshatra that can help us to finish what we started.

On a global or mundane level, Rahu in Krittika can make wars happen. Because based on the mythology itself, this Nakshatra is about going to war. But other than war, peace agreement or conflict resolution also happened. The last time Rahu was in Krittika was in 2003 where Iraq war/invasion started. Some of civil wars’ climax also happen during Rahu’s transit into Krittika. So I myself won’t be surprised if there will be a civil war or even a new war happen when Rahu starts to enter Krittika.

Other than war, I also notice during my research that there are lots of bombings took place during Rahu’s transit to Krittika. So we should also watch the development of terrorism threat. Why bombings? Because Rahu’s qualities were like Jupiter’s, it can make something became big and Krittika is a very fiery Nakshatra. When we put Rahu in a fiery place, it can expand the fire which is why bombings can happen several times during this transit.

One thing that I found VERY fascinating when I do my research about Rahu in Krittika was the fact that some of the well-known dictators and longest-serving powerful leaders were first elected or rise in power during Rahu’s transit into Krittika. Some of the examples were Indira Gandhi (one of the longest-serving Prime Minister of India), Daniel Ortega, and Ferdinand Marcos.

I also found out that some of these leaders face the end of their career or power during the next Rahu’s transit into Krittika. Indira Gandhi was first elected in 1966 when Rahu is in Krittika, then she was assassinated on 1984 when Rahu was in Krittika. Ferdinand Marcos also rise in power in 1965 when Rahu is in Krittika. Even though he didn’t fall in power during Rahu’s transit into Krittika, but his health beginning to fall and there are lots of revolutions against him during Rahu’s transit in Krittika.

In medical field, when Rahu is in Krittika, the medical invention reached a new height. One of the most famous one was the human genome project. This project has the goal to determine the base pairs that make up human DNA. This project was first presented in 1985 during Rahu’s transit in Bharani (so the idea actually can come up when Rahu was in Krittika) and completed in 2003 when Rahu is in Krittika. Hopefully, this year until next year’s Rahu in Krittika transit can enable the scientists to finally make progress on the cancer vaccine or HIV vaccine.

I also noticed that there are some inventions or new achievement in the Aeronautics and Space department. Some of them are the discovery of the oldest Exoplanet in 2003, China’s first manned mission in space, the launching of Spitzer Space Telescope, etc. The internet domain name system was actually also first registered when Rahu is in Krittika in 1985.

During Rahu’s transit into Krittika, we have to be mindful about what we say to other people because we can be very impulsive when we became angry and they can also be easily offended. Even though Sun’s anger is shortlived, but it might leave a mark on the people that we love.

Also, there might be a lot of demonstration took place, especially those who defending a purpose they believe in or defending their territory. Rahu’s transit in Krittika might start a new revolution but the climax will be when Rahu enter Bharani Nakshatra, which is still next year.

One more thing that might happen during Rahu’s transit in Krittika was the possibilities of violence to erupt because of a leader’s assassination attempt. This assassination might happen in December 2021 — January 2022.
